Madeline Daly had been located in #NewMexico.

Mr. Stoner sat by the phone waiting for the news he had been hoping to hear for months: that his son was safe and he would be able to celebrate Christmas with him.

Instead of being able to spend Christmas with his son, Jake heard the words that will haunt him forever.

Madeline Daly had barricaded herself at an RV Park in New Mexico.

Instead of turning her son over to law enforcement and being peacefully #arrested, she shot Basil and #killed him.

Stoner believes that if laws are changed to allow for #AmberAlerts to be issued with less #stringent standards, his son would be alive and safe today.

A #woman was #convicted in a #NewMexico #courtroom this week for #kidnapping and #killing her infant son in order to deprive his father of custody.

The case adds to the growing number of highly disturbing stories of moms killing their #children.

In recent weeks, LifeSiteNews has reported on Lindsay Clancy and Kailey Erhart, both of whom brutally killed their young children, including infants.

Madeline Daly, 36, said she shot 11-month-old Basil in the face after being pursued by #LawEnforcement from #Wyoming to New Mexico, where she was eventually found hiding with the child in an RV in a rural area.

Daly #pleaded #guilty to #first-degree #murder in the December 2025 killing of her son.

She faces life in #prison, the maximum #penalty for first-degree murder in New Mexico, according to a statement from #DistrictAttorney Norman R. Wheeler.

“Basil Stoner was born on January 8th, 2025.

His father, Jake Stoner, was previously in a #relationship with Daly.

When the parties split in July of 2024, Madeline Daly went on the run and tried to keep the location of where she was and where the baby was going to be born a secret,” recounts a narrative supplied on a #GoFundMe page established to help the bereaved dad change #Amber Alert laws to make them more effective.

An #Alabama #man who called a wrecker service asking to have a 70-ton crane pulled out of the woods is now charged with stealing the heavy machinery, sheriff’s officials said.

The owner of a towing service contacted the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, saying the man had called claiming someone gave him the crane, and he wanted it removed so he could sell it for scrap, the agency said in a #statement.

The wrecker service owner recalled moving the same crane a few years before and contacted its owner, who denied having given it away. The towing operator then called law enforcement.

The man who wanted the crane moved fled before #officers arrived, driving the rig into a ditch where it became stuck.

The 26-year-old Clanton man was arrested Tuesday on a #probation #violation and #first-degree theft charges.

Court records didn’t include the name of a defense #attorney who could speak on his behalf.

“We have worked a lot of theft cases over the years, but this one definitely takes first place in the heavyweight category,” #Sheriff John Shearon’s office said in a statement, thanking the wrecker service.
