– The present moment is of overwhelming interest to all who live.

Rulers and statesmen, men in positions of trust and authority, thinking men and women of all classes, have their attention fixed on events around us.

They observe the relationships that exist between nations.

They observe the intensity that takes hold of every earthly element, and they recognize that something great and decisive is about to happen, that the world is on the eve of a spectacular crisis.

Calamities on land and sea, social instability, threats of war, like portentous omens, announce the proximity of events of the greatest gravity.

The evil agencies unite and increase their forces for the great final crisis.

Great changes are about to take place in the world, and the final moves will be swift.

Strength to Heal: What Is Childhood Trauma?.

A child’s experience is traumatic if it is frightening or disturbing, or both, and there is nowhere safe to go or it feels out of the child’s control. Per this overview of child traumatic stress, by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, “Traumatic stress occurs when a child experiences a stressful event or situation that overwhelms a child’s ability to cope. Stress can be caused by a multitude of experiences that leave a person feeling threatened, fearful or unsafe.” Whether it is a difficult test, a fight with a friend or even breaking a favorite toy, children often feel these things acutely but with support can often process these feelings. Those experiences, however, would rarely be described as traumatic childhood. A traumatic event, on the other hand, can leave a person’s nervous system more on alert and easier to stress out.

Children who experience the same event may have quite different responses. Circumstances matter as well as a child’s age, temperament and other past adversities. What happens afterwards matters too, the resources at hand and who helps the child feel safe. Childhood trauma can include violence and abuse, sudden loss or fears around what is happening at home. Understanding childhood trauma involves asking what happened, how the child experienced it, who was there and who was there to care.

“Access to assisted dying would be restricted to adults who are French citizens or legal residents in France, ​and who suffer from a serious and incurable illness that is life-threatening and in an advanced or terminal ​phase, experience constant physical or psychological suffering linked to that condition, and are able to express ⁠a free and informed choice.”

There you have it: restrictions, safeguards… we’ve seen this movie.

Soon, new legislation gets tacked to it, and before you know it, you have children who are mildly depressed, taking the easy way out, cheered by the ‘doctors.’

The debate has divided French society, with all the MSM and celebrities pushing hard for this.

“Opponents, including sections of the medical profession and religious groups, argue ​that legalizing assisted dying could put pressure on vulnerable people. The Catholic Church is among those that have opposed the legislation, with ‌one bishop ⁠threatening to deny communion to lawmakers who support it.

‘A society grounded in fraternity supports, protects, and cares for people. It never gives up on the most fragile among us’, former interior minister, Bruno Retailleau, a conservative presidential candidate, said on X.”

The Associated Press: US attacks Iran and Tehran retaliates across the Middle East as both vie for control of strait

The U.S. launched strikes on Iran early Tuesday morning, hours after President Donald Trump said Washington is “reinstating” a blockade on Iran in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump separately suggested the United States will charge other ships for safe passage, upending hundreds of years of American policy supporting freedom of navigation across the globe.

Iran responded with attacks targeting Bahrain, Jordan and two tankers associated with the United Arab Emirates traveling through the strait, killing one mariner and wounding eight others. The Emirates threatened to retaliate against Iran, potentially drawing the nation home to Abu Dhabi and Dubai back into fighting with Tehran.

The attacks come as Iran and the U.S. both vie for control of the strait through which a fifth of all traded crude oil and natural gas once passed in peacetime. The price of benchmark Brent crude oil rose to a one-month high of over $84 in trading early Tuesday, still well below the nearly $120 reached at the height of the war but threatening to make costs everywhere higher.

A band of white Democratic pastors have a striking message ahead of November’s US midterm elections: Republicans have hijacked Jesus for political gain, and we’re not going to stand for it.

For decades, it’s been a truism that Republicans have cornered the Christian market — at least when it comes to white voters.

But these ministers are so fed up with President Donald Trump, and particularly his policies against immigrants, that they’re running as Democrats in November to rein him in.

“The Christians we’re hearing in Washington don’t reflect the Jesus of the Gospels,” one of the insurgents, Adam Hamilton, told AFP.

As the head of a 24,000-member Methodist megachurch in a deeply conservative, rural area of Kansas, Hamilton would typically fit the profile of a right-wing Republican Christian.

However, along with support for fiscal responsibility and a strong military, the 62-year-old Hamilton backs legal access to abortion and protecting LGBTQ rights in his campaign for the US Senate.

Citing the “crassness and mean-spiritedness” of Trump’s presidency, he said what’s happening in Washington is “inconsistent with the values that I’ve preached for 36 years.”

“I want to stand up and be heard saying: ‘This is not OK.'”

– What insults Jesus? –

Democrats have a long tradition of clergy in politics, but predominately among African Americans.

In Congress now, there’s Senator Raphael Warnock, who leads Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr was pastor.

But the last white, Democratic pastor in Congress was Bob Edgar, a Methodist minister representing Pennsylvania from 1975 to 1987.

Now, in these midterms, no fewer than seven white clergy or ministers-in-training representing the Democratic Party are vying for congressional seats.

From Iowa, Texas, Alaska, Arkansas, Kansas and Tennessee, they’re mostly political newcomers. Three of them are women.

But they’re united in aiming to reclaim the Bible from Republicans and using Christian teaching to support more liberal policies on immigrants and the poor.

Perhaps the most prominent is James Talarico, a 37-year-old Presbyterian seminarian running for a Senate seat in Texas.

In a staunchly conservative, Republican-led state, his Scripture-laden speeches have helped him make deep inroads.

“You want to know what insults Jesus? Kicking the sick off health care while cutting the taxes of billionaires,” Talarico said in one speech.

– Religious Democrat? It’s OK –

One reason Republicans have dominated the white Christian electorate is that Democrats have gradually shifted from being identified as the party of the working class to a secular elite where religion can be unfashionable.

Indira Duggirala, co-chair of the Democratic National Committee’s Interfaith Council, acknowledged that there has been a “vacuum in that religious space in Democratic politics.”

The emergence of these faith-oriented candidates — which she said happened organically — “is not an unwelcome change.”

“It’s OK to be a Democrat and be religious,” she told AFP, while emphasizing that government must be secular.

For many Democrats, as well as many Christians, Trump’s MAGA movement and the rise of Christian nationalism have been alarming.

There’s been particular revulsion at the way Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth holds Pentagon prayer meetings and uses stridently religious language to justify the US war against Iran.

“Christian nationalism is one of the biggest threats to democracy in the United States,” said Robb Ryerse, an evangelical pastor who is vying for a congressional seat in Arkansas, another predominantly red state.

But Ryerse, 51, and others in the Democratic Christian pushback say they are ready to right wrongs.

“We need people of faith to stand up and say the United States has a separation of church and state,” Ryerse said, describing one aspect of his mission as helping to “clean up the mess” made by fellow white Christians on the right.

If he wins, Hamilton would be the first Kansas Democrat elected to the US Senate since 1932 — and he says he’s ready to make that history.

“It’s time,” he said. “I think we’re going to do it. There are a lot of people out there who are saying we need change.”

‘Life-threatening:’ four infants hospitalized over recalled baby formula

A fourth infant has been hospitalized with botulism following consumption of organic baby formula.

he Food and Drug Administration has announced a fourth infant has been hospitalized with botulism after consuming Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula,

“Parents and Caregivers should stop using Nara Organics Whole Milk Organic Infant Formula immediately,” the FDA said Monday, adding that the agency is actively investigating the outbreak affecting infants in California, Pennsylvania and Washington.

The FDA also advised parents to keep any opened cans in case the child develops botulism and the FDA needs to test them.

Botulism is caused by the ingestion of Clostridium botulinum, a neurotoxin-producing bacteria often found in improperly stored or preserved foods, honey, and the environment.

In infants, symptoms include muscle weakness, drooping eyelids, difficulty swallowing or breathing. And if untreated, the ingestion could lead to paralysis and-or death.

In coordination with the Center for Disease Control and the Infant Botulism Treatment and Prevention Program (IBTPP), the FDA has collected unopened samples from implicated formula lot numbers for testing, with results expected in the coming weeks.

Separately, state officials collected opened formula cans from sick infants’ homes, and CDPH testing detected Clostridium botulinum in an opened can of Nara Organics powdered infant formula from one affected infant’s home.

Nara Organics Powdered Infant Formula follows ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula, recalled in late 2025 after causing 28 confirmed and 20 probable cases of botulism in children under the age of 1.

Critics blame the FDA for failing to recall the formula sooner, citing insufficient oversight due to recent staffing cuts by President Trump.

However, the Trump administration, which has previously defended staffing cuts across federal agencies to reduce waste and bureaucratic bloating, reported increased recalls in 2025 compared to those under Biden in 2024.

Principle #1: My Anxiety Reveals What I Value (Matthew 6:19–24)

Matthew 6:25 is perhaps the most quoted verse about anxiety in the Bible because it challenges us to trust God rather than falling into worry and anxiety. What we often miss when quoting verse 25 is that the teaching on anxiety is an application of verses 19–24. In verses 19–24, Jesus reminded us all that life on earth is short and we can’t take anything with us. He taught us that what we value will become what we prioritize. If we value the world’s priorities more than we value God’s priorities, we will naturally be anxious about the things of this world like food, clothing, and “stuff.”

Because our money, health, reputation, and relationships are valuable to us, we become anxious when what we love becomes threatened. Anxiety provides us a window into what our hearts find truly valuable. When our hearts align with God’s values, we will view the dangers around us differently. Death, discomfort, and dire circumstances don’t have the same sting when we have God’s eternal perspective. When God’s values and our values align, we will understand what is most important and live out the purpose we were created for.

Action step: God calls me to overcome anxiety by keeping my focus on what will last eternally.

Try to help them distinguish between wishing it had never happened, in terms of wishing they hadn’t been there at that time, or said what they said, and so on, and it being their fault it happened. Everyone has a basic human right to be free from threat, harassment or attack.
