Another man shot in Riverside’s Arlanza neighborhood; suspect arrested

A man was wounded by gunfire and a person walking away from the area was arrested on Tuesday, March 8, the Riverside Police Department said.

The shooting happened at about 4:25 p.m. in the 10000 block of Yellow Brick Road, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a department spokesman.

“The adult male suspect was safely detained and found to still be in possession of the firearm believed to have been used.  The victim was taken to a local hospital in serious but stable condition,” Railsback said.

The suspect and victim appeared to know each other, Railsback said.

Stephen William Cano, who turns 39 on Saturday, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and various firearms violations, the county jail log shows. He was being held at Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in French Valley in lieu of $1 million bail.
