Transport Canada started this to curtail wing-walking and other stunts.
BELGIUM None shall take your last cow (or 12 sheep), pig, or 24 chickens.
The Belgian Judicial Code provides a list of goods and items that may not, in principle, be seized by a bailiff (art. 1408), basically in order to safeguard minimal living conditions and means.
While such a list is useful in itself, its details harken back to days of yore. Most notably, it details that a seizure may not lay claim to “a cow, or 12 sheep or goats”, nor can someone’s last (or only) pig “and 24 poultry animals” be seized. Supplies required for maintaining and feeding said livestock “for the duration of one month” are also precluded from being seized.
BELGIUM Street musicians can be fined for playing off-key.
In Leuven, Article 424 doesn’t literally provide that playing off-key, but it does state that a musical performance must not give rise to “a disturbance of the public order or peace”. However, local authorities have interpreted this provision to prohibit playing off-key.
ITALY In Turin, it is illegal to dye your pet’s fur.
This act was lumped in with “animal mutilation” laws that have been passed in recent years.
UNITED KINGDOM It is illegal to ride a cow while drunk.
The Licensing Act of 1872 stipulates that operating a cow, horse or steam engine while intoxicated carries either a prison sentence or a fine. It allegedly carries a penalty fine of up to 1,200 GBP excluding the costs of looking after the cow, horse, etc. So when you go out cow-tipping, just make sure not to hop on one!
LONGYEARBYEN It is illegal to die in town
In 1950, it was discovered that bodies were not decomposing in the permafrost. The town passed an ordnance to outlaw dying to protect residents from disease that may spread from bodies in graveyards. Spanish Flu has been extracted from victims of the 1918 breakout since they were preserved in the permafrost.
Your Relationship Will Never Evolve If It Doesn’t Include These 3 Things
It is a part of life to have relationships. Like life itself, relationships evolve and go through different stages. After we were in our mother’s womb, we went through the infant and toddler stage, childhood, young adulthood, and finally the age of full strength and old age. Each of these stages brought its own challenges. The same is true for intimate relationships. The question is, how do we navigate them in order to achieve the longevity and happiness we desire? The answer is simple: As the relationship moves through its various stages, we must do the same individually and as a couple. What does this look like? I will offer a few tips that will assist us in this area.
1. Knowledge
2. Intimate Communication
3. Surprises
The following three things are related to the evolutionary nature of relationships, but let’s be clear about how they relate. Knowing what to do dictates action. For instance, knowing someone is the first step to loving them. It is important to never abandon learning during the different stages of a relationship. You should also consider whether you have enough in common to build a happy life together. If you try to change each other into someone you are not, you’ll have regret and resentment years down the road. Why does knowledge have to be such a staple in the union? Because the more we learn, the more we grow as people. Growth means you are not staying stagnant. Granted, there are certain personality traits and habits that will always be there, but you will never become hum-drum.
This will allow both of you to remain fascinated with one another. Fascination has to continue in a relationship, and this can only be accomplished with good knowledge and acting upon it. In addition, learning new things keeps us passionate. When we read that new book, when we watch that motivational video, when we go to that information-packed conference, we become so excited about the new information we obtained. New knowledge does not stay in our hearts or minds. It is exciting to share it; people can hear the excitement in our voices, they can feel the energy in our bodies, and when love exists between two people, they become excited because you are. Increased knowledge also has the effect of making your partner see various layers of you, which will increase their love for you. Learning more in life has so many benefits; therefore, of course, it can have a positive effect on your intimate relationship.
Secondly, intimate communication. What I mean by this is communication between you and your partner about what is in your hearts. Not about jobs, bills, kids, etc., but about the state of your relationship and what you two want and desire from each other going forward. I realize that many people are not comfortable claiming that a relationship is like a business. However, in order for it to be healthy and function properly, it would help to add some business principles. One that I suggest to my clients regarding intimate communication is to have a 90-day check-in. Meaning, four times a year you two sit down and talk about things that are working in the relationship, things that aren’t working, what should be added, what should be subtracted, and so on. These things should be laid out with the sole purpose of correcting them in order to make the union better.
Lastly, surprises. This is a no-brainer. However, some couples, after they have been together for a while, forget about the importance of surprising their partner. It doesn’t have to be something big. Leave a love note around the house where you know they will find it, write a love letter from time to time, buy a gift when there’s no special occasion and any other activity that he or she is not looking for at the time. As the relationship goes through the various stages of evolution, these actions should never be abandoned. They will keep the union feeling fresh and exciting, and this is what a relationship should be about.
If You Want God To Bless You With A Good Relationship, You Need To Start Here
What do you need to have the marriage or relationship you really want?
Be vulnerable with yourself first. In order to truly get the heart work done, you need to be honest about your situation, inwardly and outwardly. Are you connecting with God the way you should? Do you use foul language or talk down to your partner? Are you selfish or selfless in your intimate relationships? You must begin with asking yourself these questions and more if you really want God to bless you with a good marriage or relationship.
Use this tradition as a guide to what you need to do in order to transform your relationships for the better. “If you were to trust in God the way you should, He would provide for you the way He feeds the birds. They leave the nest in the morning with their bellies empty, and they come back at night with their bellies full.”
What is the main point that we gather from this tradition? Answer: the birds left the nest. That’s how God fed them. Could He have fed them without them leaving the nest? Of course. However, God not only created the creation, but He has also created cause and effect within His creation. That being the case, you must be vulnerable with yourself in order to heal. You must be honest with yourself about what kind of marriage or relationship you want to have. You must be clear about what you can contribute to a powerful union with another soul.
It’s difficult, but look at it this way. Being vulnerable with yourself will only benefit you in establishing a powerful and beneficial bond with someone else. After all, being vulnerable, opening yourself up to another human being is a major part of marriage and relationships. When you take this step with yourself, you will be ahead of the curve. I get it. There are many unhealthy stories and attachments that automatically go along with vulnerability which makes it extremely hard. However, vulnerability is exactly what you need to prepare yourself for the marriage or relationship you want. Rid yourself of the belief that vulnerability has to equal weakness. That’s not the case. Especially when you start by practicing it in order to heal and know yourself better. That is true strength and power.
Embracing this self vulnerability is what will take your life from feeling like something is missing, to feeling full and nourished. Embrace it now. Hurry up—don’t wait.
I swear to God he levitated
I have a friend who I’ve known since I was very little. One day, when he was six, I was at his house when he got this absolutely god-awful stomach pain. I mean, he was literally writhing in pain. So, his mom took him to the doctor’s office, where the doctor took one look and told her to take him to the ER. She feared something along the lines of an intestinal rupture. About half way to the hospital, my friend suddenly let rip the loudest, most powerful fart any of us had ever heard. I swear to God he levitated. We thought the upholstery in the car seat had ripped. After a good 30 seconds of intense farting, he looked at his mom and said, “I feel all better now!”
Ow, my sh@t!
When I was a kid, I was always excited to learn new vocabulary. When I was in first grade, my teacher taught me that “shin” was another word for leg.
Later that day, I was walking with my mom, when I tripped and hit my leg on the ground really hard. I yelled out “OW, MY SHIN” although my mom heard “OW, MY SHIT.” She started yelling about how that was a bad word and we didn’t say that word, and she was going to wash my mouth out with soap. I was a crying, bawling mess of a child, to the point I was doing that weird cry, stutter, hiccup noise. She paused in berating me and said “Who taught you that word?!” Of course, I told the truth and said “M-m-my teacher t-t-t-taught me that word!” and she started ranting about how she was going to call the school and get that teacher yelled at.
I tried to explain, “T-te-teacher said that shin meant leg I’m SO SORRY ILL N-N-NE-ne-never say it again.” My mom got quiet and realized her mistake. “…What did you say?”
Of course I started crying harder and I said “NO it’s just a test you’re going to wash my mouth out with soap again.”
When I finally calmed down enough to say it again, my mom apologized and to this day I always say “shin” loudly just to see her face blush.
