THERE WILL BE BLOOD

Putin warns hypersonic missiles are ready to launch & stockpiles blood ‘for war’ as Ukraine declares state of emergency

VLADIMIR Putin has warned “unparalleled” hypersonic missiles are ready for action and has been stockpiling blood, fuelling war fears.

Troops have also been on the move amid concern Ukraine’s second largest city, Kharkiv, could be next in his sights, as the country declares a state of emergency.

With a huge 200,000 strong force encircling Ukraine, the world is on a knife edge waiting for Putin’s next move – which could see the bloodiest conflict in Europe since WW2.

Ukraine has now declared a state of emergency, allowing police to carry out random checks, and also announced all citizens will now be allowed to carry guns.

Putin has given a chilling warning that “weapons without parallel in the world have been put on combat duty”.

His threat was delivered on Defender of the Fatherland Day – three days after he watched two of the new missiles tested from a Bond villain style “situation room”.

Europe, US Preparing To Impose Sanctions On Russia

Now that Putin has officially recognized the separatists regions of Donetsk and Luhansk as independent, sovereign states, warning that from this moment onward, Ukraine must halt all military actions against Donbas, or whatever happens next will be on them and the West, it was only a matter of time before Europe (and the West) retaliated with progressively escalating sanctions.

Sure enough, the ink wasn’t quite dry yet on Putin’s signature, when the EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell Fontelles tweeted that “the recognition of the two separatist territories in Ukraine is a blatant violation of international law, the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the Minsk agreements” adding that “The EU and its partners will react with unity, firmness and with determination in solidarity with Ukraine.”

Oil Prices Will Be Above $100 For A “Prolonged Period”

As Bloomberg’s Jake Lloyd-Smith wrote last night, oil markets are so bullish at present that forecasts for $100/bbl crude have become par for the course, which suggests that the threshold will be tested in 1H, “even if tensions over Ukraine cool,” which now appears improbably and is why $100 oil may come as soon as tomorrow.

As the BBG reporter notes, “the three-digit-barrel forecast surfaced at least a year ago and used to turn heads given it was bold, and prices were way, way lower back then. It’s founded principally on the case that energy consumption returning to normal as the pandemic ebbs will underpin gains”.

Goldman Sachs added its voice to the chorus not so long ago, when its chief commodity strategist and one of the closest-followed analysts on Wall Street, said he’s never seen commodity markets pricing in the shortages they are right now.

“I’ve been doing this 30 years and I’ve never seen markets like this,” Currie told Bloomberg TV in an interview last week. “This is a molecule crisis. We’re out of everything, I don’t care if it’s oil, gas, coal, copper, aluminum, you name it we’re out of it.”

Last week, JPMorgan echoed Goldman’s lament, when the bank’s global head of oil trading Jake Pashelinsky sent the following note around the bank’s trading desks (full note available to professional subs):

I can’t stress enough how tight near term fundamentals are, we are running out of molecules and don’t have enough storage to bridge the gap to potentially looser 2h22 balances.

We have Cushing modelled at going into refinery maintenance season near tank bottoms and getting almost no resupply

this market will do anything to avoid running dry and the only real option in the near term is to price to demand destruction which is north of here.

Then, as Lloyd-Smith notes, the latest riff on the theme comes from Russell Hardy, CEO of Vitol Group, the boss of the world’s largest independent oil trader, who’d already flagged the possibility back in November. This is what Bloomberg reported overnight:

Oil prices could be set for a “prolonged period” above $100 a barrel over the next six to nine months, with the world setting fresh demand records this year, said Vitol Group Chief Executive Officer Russell Hardy.

Crude already surged to within a few dollars of that level earlier this month, as the recovery in fuel use from the pandemic started to run into supply constraints. In an interview in London with Bloomberg television, the boss of the world’s largest independent oil trader said the market will get tighter, with daily consumption set to rise well above pre-Covid levels by the end of 2022.

“The 100 million-barrel number is probably going to be exceeded this year,” Hardy said. “Demand is going to surge in the second half” if travel continues to return to normal.

JOURNO-TERRORISM: Washington Post and CBC tag-team with criminal cyber hackers to dox and intimidate freedom convoy donors

The corporate-run media is having a heyday doxing the identities of all the donors to the Freedom Convoy in Canada.

It is apparently a crime in the world of libtards to take a stand for one’s right to bodily autonomy, and both The Washington Post and CBC News have decided to punish those who do so by putting their personal information on blast.

According to reports, the Post is now harassing donors who contributed funding to the Canadian truckers who converged on Ottawa in protest of Justin Trudeau’s Wuhan coronavirus (Covid-19) “vaccine” mandate.

“The Washington Post is contacting people whose donation info was leaked and who gave as little as 40 dollars to the truckers to ask them why they did so,” tweeted Saagar Enjeti, a co-host on “Rising with Krystal and Saagar” at The Hill.

Enjeti received this information from a source who emailed him to say that “leaked data” was obtained about the GiveSendGo contributions showing that the Post has been harassing those who participated by asking them what “motivated” them to send money to the truckers.

Is the Gun Dangerous, or is it the Criminal?

The world is fascinatingly complex yet important truths are often simple. We shouldn’t take that too far since most simple answers are also wrong or incomplete. That tension helps make life so interesting as we try to understand the world around us. For example, we saw violent crime increase in the last few years. Should we try to keep violent criminals away from guns, or should we try to keep violent criminals away from us? Is the tool dangerous or is the person dangerous? Let’s look at both ideas and see if there are any simple answers to be found.

When we look for simple solutions we see that criminals use guns to commit violence. That sounds like the case is closed but there is more evidence to uncover. If we keep looking then we find that innocent victims also use firearms to stop violence. That means the answers are not black and white but shades of gray.

When we look at all firearms we see that a vanishingly small fraction of the guns owned by civilians were used in violent crime each year (1 in 1400). Now we look deeper and find out that honest citizens used a firearm for self-defense over 1.6 million times a year. That is more people than live in New Hampshire or Hawaii. Each year, more people use a firearm for self-defense than the population of Wyoming and Vermont combined. Armed defense is common.

Israeli satellite images show rapid Russian military buildup in Crimea ImageSat International says some military vehicles can be seen near staging grounds in possible preparation for invasion of southern Ukraine

New satellite images published Saturday show Russia has massed troops in the annexed Crimean Peninsula in recent days.

Private Israeli intelligence firm ImageSat International (ISI) said some of the military vehicles — including tanks, armored personnel carriers and rocket launchers — were seen outside of staging grounds, “possibly preparing for movement soon.”

The buildup in Crimea occurred within the past four days, according to ISI.

Imagery from February 15 shows the area near the town of Novoozerne completely empty.

ISI said the buildup of the forces in the area was to allow Russia to invade southern Ukraine.

‘Act of Intimidation’: Australian PM Condemns China After Warship Fires Laser at Military Plane

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has criticised Beijing for “an act of intimidation” after a Chinese warship fired a laser at a Royal Australian military aircraft.

The attack took place on Feb. 17 as an Australian P-8A Poseidon aircraft was monitoring a Chinese Navy vessel sailing through the Arafura Sea—in international waters but inside Australia’s exclusive economic zone.

The Chinese warship reportedly fired a military-grade laser at the Australian aircraft, an action that the Australian defence department said could have put the lives of ADF personnel in danger.

The incident comes following a week of domestic political dispute about national security as Beijing escalates its plans to become the dominant force in the Indo-Pacific region.
