30 Powerful Bible Verses About Submission (Full Commentary)

Today we will talk about Bible Verses About Submission. Many Christians do not know what this means. Submission can often feel like a heavy word, laden with obligations. However, in the Bible, it is presented as a beautiful expression of love, respect, and trust. Submission is not about defeat; it’s about aligning ourselves with God’s purpose for our lives and for the harmony within our relationships. As we read through these verses, let’s meditate on the depth of submission, and how it can enrich our walk of faith and strengthen our connections with each other and with the Lord.

Bible Verses About Submission
Submission to God
In our spiritual journey, we must recognize that our ultimate submission belongs to God. Submitting to God means surrendering our will and trusting in His wisdom and guidance. It can be easy to rely on our understanding, but when we submit to God’s divine authority, we open ourselves up to receive His blessings and peace. This act of submission allows us to grow closer to Him, while also positioning us to fulfill His plans for our lives. By choosing to humbly submit to God, we declare our faith in His perfect will, which ultimately leads to a fulfilling life guided by purpose.

An Idaho mother said her toddlers died after routine vaccinations. Prosecutors say she murdered them

An Idaho mother who claimed her toddler twins died last year shortly after being vaccinated is now facing murder charges after prosecutors accused her of suffocating the children.

Andrea Shaw was charged with two counts of first-degree murder last week for the May 2025 deaths of her 18-month twins in Payette, a town about 60 miles northwest of Boise. If convicted, she could face life in prison or the death penalty.

Shaw’s attorney, Joe Filicetti, said the children’s deaths were not a crime, but rather the result of a medical issue after they received routine childhood vaccines.

“It’s been 14 months and our position has been the same all along, that she did nothing to cause the death of these two children,” Filicetti told CNN. “She followed the vaccine schedule and they were having vaccine reactions.” He added that Shaw took the twins to the doctor to be seen for the reactions.

Though medical authorities have long said that routine childhood vaccines are safe and effective, anti-vaccination groups — including one founded by the Health and Human Services secretary — have seized on the twins’ story in their efforts to challenge the acceptance of routine childhood vaccines recommended by medical authorities. Shaw is a plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by that group.

The Payette Police Department announced Shaw’s arrest last week. She is being held on a $2 million bond, court records show.

Shaw’s arrest came five days after she gave birth to her new child via C-section, Filicetti told CNN. He is working to try to reduce her bond and get her out of the Payette County Jail, where she is currently being held, he said.

Shaw’s arrest was “the result of a lengthy and thorough investigation conducted by the Payette Police Department,” police said in a statement on Facebook. The department declined to make any additional comments about the facts or evidence of the case, only saying additional information will be provided as the judicial process proceeds.

Days after the death of her twins, Shaw and her husband, Nathaniel Shaw, appeared on an internet show produced by Children’s Health Defense, an anti-vaccine group founded by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., though he has not been affiliated with the group since December 2024 according to the Associated Press.

Shaw, Children’s Health Defense and others filed a lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics, accusing the organization of racketeering. The suit alleges it had a “central role in an enterprise that has defrauded American families about the safety of the childhood vaccine schedule for several decades.”

The American Academy of Pediatrics said in a court filing that the lawsuit is part of a larger campaign targeting the institution and its “use of science-backed evidence in vaccine policy,” the AP reported. The organization has asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit.

Shaw said she did not previously hold anti-vaccine views. She described her twins, Dallas and Tyson, as being “normal, perfect, happy little babies,” the day before receiving their shots. The twins were born prematurely and spent 77 days in the NICU. Dallas loved “Strawberry Shortcake” and Tyson loved Lightning McQueen from the movie “Cars,” she said.

Shaw teared up as she spoke about the days after her children received their 18-month routine medical vaccines for Hepatitis-A, diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis and the flu.

Filicetti told CNN that Shaw and her husband sought medical care for the children following a reaction to the vaccines.

The day after they were vaccinated, the twins were taken to the St. Luke’s emergency room with symptoms including blue lips, lethargy and sunken eyes, Shaw’s lawsuit against the American Academy of Pediatrics alleges.

Shaw described the moment she said she found her babies laying on their bellies in their bed, cold to the touch, in her interview with the internet show.

“They looked as if they had gone in their sleep; they were in their sleeping positions,” Shaw told the host of the program.

The twins’ father described police as being “disrespectful” and seeming to be suspicious upon their arrival.

“They constantly were trying to pin me and Andrea against each other, trying to get us to say, ‘Well, I think she did it,’ or ‘I think he did it,’” Nathaniel Shaw said during the May 2025 interview.

“It was just straight to interrogation: ‘We know one of you guys did it,’ without having any proof, without even having an autopsy done, and they were just very adamant that we had done it,” he added.

Andrea described her second day of police interrogation after the children had died.

“They said that it wasn’t medical and that they figured asphyxiation and that I had supposedly had a postpartum overwhelming blackout and done it to my children,” Andrea Shaw said. “It made me feel crazy.”

Multiple autopsies have been performed since the twins died, Filicetti told CNN.

CNN has reached out to the Payette County Coroner.

Moving Forward With Accountability And Hope

People learn from infidelity and build relationships that are wiser and safer. You can move from secrecy to congruence by practicing skills that hold you inside your values under pressure. Progress doesn’t erase the hurt, but it changes the future by making safety visible again.

Don’t blame your partner or the relationship for a choice that came from your unhealed parts. You can still talk about relational needs—desire, attention, adventure—without making them conditions for your integrity. Bring those needs to the table early, not to a third party in secret. Ask for couples help if you get stuck in gridlock. Courage looks like saying the hard thing before you act the easy way.

Accountability, vulnerability, and continued healing give you the best odds. Create rituals of connection, schedule regular state‑of‑the‑union conversations, and keep tending your nervous system. Surround yourself with people who support your values and will tell you the truth when you drift. Hope grows when your daily life lines up with who you want to be.

Explosions rock Damascus during Macron visit

Macron was on the way to the Presidential Palace to meet with his Syrian counterpart Ahmed al-Sharaa when the blasts occurred and he did not hear any of them, according to the French Presidency.

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – Two explosions rocked Damascus on Tuesday with several outlets suggesting they occurred near the hotel where French President Emmanuel Macron is staying.

Macron was on the way to the Presidential Palace to meet with his Syrian counterpart Ahmed al-Sharaa when the blasts occurred and he did not hear any of them, according to the French Presidency.

It added that no changes had occurred in Macron’s agenda and that the visit would continue.

The explosions were near the tourism ministry, Syrian state media reported, which is across the road from the Four Seasons Hotel, where Macron is reportedly staying.

Footage circulating on social media showed a van and a motorcycle on fire with blood stains on the floor. The number of casualties remains unknown as of the time of writing this article.

Macron arrived in Syria on Monday, marking the first visit from a European head of state since Bashar al-Assad was ousted in December 2024.

The visit marks the first by a French president to Damascus since Nicolas Sarkozy in 2009, before longtime Syrian ruler Bashar al-Assad crushed pro-democracy protests in 2011.

On Sunday, the Syrian presidency said Macron’s visit would be alongside a high-level delegation that includes investors and representatives of French companies, as the two sides seek to expand economic ties.

Earlier in May, Sharaa was received by Macron in Paris in the latter’s inaugural European visit since ascending to power in December, offering a seminal moment for Damascus to capture Western goodwill and engage in diplomatic outreach in the pursuit of legitimacy for his administration.

Along with his delegation, the French president is also taking back archaeological artifacts “that were loaned to the Arab World Institute in 2010 and which, for obvious reasons, were not able to be returned to Syria,” the Elysee said.

Principle #4: My Anxiety Is Redirected Best by Compassionately Serving Others (Matthew 9:35–10:15)

In our anxiety, we are incessantly inward-focused. At times, we do worry about others, but even these worries are typically how the actions of others might affect themselves and our ability to relate in a healthy way with them. In our worry, we may fear losing a parent or fear the self-destructive actions of a young adult spiraling out of control. Jesus taught us that this worry accomplishes little.

However, one of the consistent themes throughout the gospels is the call to care for those in need and share the good news of what Jesus has done for us. At the end of the ministry trip that Jesus took His disciples on, He gathered them around and let them in on a secret. It was their turn to go and heal the sick and share the good news of forgiveness of sins. He didn’t just want them to trust Him. He wanted them to help others to trust Him too. He was sending them on a ministry trip.

Because our thought patterns of fear, worry, and anxiety tend to focus on the danger we face, refocusing our mind and energy toward serving others can make a major impact on how we deal with anxiety. Anxiety tends to paralyze, isolate, and cause self-doubt. However, when we can learn to focus on others with a heart of compassion, life has renewed meaning and we experience a renewed purpose and vision for our lives.

If you are a follower of Christ, Jesus calls you to pray for the harvest, to serve in planting seeds, and to make as much of a difference as you can, even if you are struggling with anxiety. Just because you can’t do everything you once were able to do, doesn’t mean that God has put you on the shelf. Seek to find the difference that God has called you to make. You have a purpose given by God for your life, and you will experience less anxiety by pursuing a life of purpose.

Action step: God calls me to overcome anxiety by keeping my focus on serving others.

Principle #3: My Anxiety Is Related to My Trust Level in God (Matthew 8)

After Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount, the disciples and Jesus embarked on a ministry trip so that Jesus could teach His disciples and model for them the way of life that He was describing in the Sermon on the Mount. Matthew records these stories one after another to make the case that Jesus alone has the power to intervene. He was unlike the other religious leaders of His day. At the end of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 7, Matthew adds that “the crowds were astonished at His teaching, for He was teaching them as one who had authority, not as their scribes.”

Jesus has real power to intervene in our troubles, and Matthew wanted to make sure you understood the reason why Jesus could stand up and say don’t be anxious. It wasn’t just a slogan to make us feel better or distract us from our troubles. Jesus really was different. People’s lives were really changed when they encountered Him.

The chart below from Matthew 8–9 represents the various conversations and encounters that Jesus faced on this trip. As you look at the conversations, you see His response to ordinary people with deep troubles and sorrows. As a counselor, if I were to make a list of the most common worries that walk into my office on any given week, this list could have been written yesterday.

Do you get the point of all these stories given back to back to back? Jesus cares about you and your specific circumstances. He cares about the things that keep you up at night. In each of the situations, Jesus wanted His disciples to understand a key truth about life: they lacked the power to control the outcome, but God was powerful.

In our anxiety, we tend to focus on the problem, and we find ourselves under the illusion that we must find a way to control what ails us. On this ministry trip, Jesus made it crystal clear to His disciples, “Apart from me, you can do nothing.” However, if they were sent with God’s power and were empowered by His Spirit, they did not need to fear. His power was available to them just like it is available to us.

Action step: God calls me to overcome anxiety by keeping my focus on trusting Him with my trials.

Principle #2: My Anxiety Reflects My View of God (Matthew 6:25–34)

Tim Keller writes, “Worry is not believing God will get it right, and bitterness is believing God got it wrong.” How we respond to life’s trouble reflects how we view God and whether we trust how He has acted towards us. Jesus makes the case that our worry really stems from a heart of unbelief that God is acting in a good way toward us. To those who doubt the provision and power of God to do what’s best, Jesus gives a gentle rebuke, “O you of little faith.”
In our counseling office, we see this all the time. When dealing with death, divorce, dysfunction, and distance in relationships, we can extrapolate all kinds of negative outcomes. Focusing on the possible outcome stems from a heart that ultimately desires to be in control. Rather than trusting a good God, it really is a heart of pride. Tim Keller reminds us, however, “It takes pride to be anxious. . . . I am not wise enough to know how my life should go.” Do we trust God with our future so we can stay present today?

Action step: God calls me to overcome anxiety by keeping my focus on His faithfulness.
How often do we become distracted when we fear the future and take matters into our own hands? We seek to control our destiny and focus our attention on what we want most. We don’t trust God to provide or to keep us safe. We start to think 10 steps down the road and bring tomorrow’s problems into today. Jesus reminded us that worry accomplishes very little and distracts us from being present in our lives today.

Principle #1: My Anxiety Reveals What I Value (Matthew 6:19–24)

Matthew 6:25 is perhaps the most quoted verse about anxiety in the Bible because it challenges us to trust God rather than falling into worry and anxiety. What we often miss when quoting verse 25 is that the teaching on anxiety is an application of verses 19–24. In verses 19–24, Jesus reminded us all that life on earth is short and we can’t take anything with us. He taught us that what we value will become what we prioritize. If we value the world’s priorities more than we value God’s priorities, we will naturally be anxious about the things of this world like food, clothing, and “stuff.”

Because our money, health, reputation, and relationships are valuable to us, we become anxious when what we love becomes threatened. Anxiety provides us a window into what our hearts find truly valuable. When our hearts align with God’s values, we will view the dangers around us differently. Death, discomfort, and dire circumstances don’t have the same sting when we have God’s eternal perspective. When God’s values and our values align, we will understand what is most important and live out the purpose we were created for.

Action step: God calls me to overcome anxiety by keeping my focus on what will last eternally.
