USA TODAY: ‘Almost an insult’: Republican senator slams CDC over autism, vaccines website.

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-Louisiana, who has repeatedly criticized President Donald Trump’s administration over health issues, slammed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention over a website related to autism and vaccines.

The gastroenterologist during a July 26 interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” called out the health authority for saying online that it’s “not an evidence-based claim” that vaccines don’t cause autism.

“That is what gives some parents hesitancy regarding having their children vaccinated,” Cassidy told host Dana Bash, who asked if the site was a “good faith attempt to stop spreading what you call ‘misinformation about vaccines.'”

The health hawk told Bash the claims will make parents hesitant to do “the right thing, which is to have their child vaccinated.” Cassidy continued, telling Bash that “it’s been firmly established vaccines do not cause autism.”

Cassidy, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, is an outspoken advocate for vaccines. When Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was being considered as the nation’s health secretary last year, Cassidy asked him to “come out unequivocally” and say vaccines are safe and they do not cause autism.

Violence and all things associated, such as weaponry and martial arts, including movies and video games and online gaming esp. any that don’t glorify God.

Anything to do with death cults, such as hell’s angels, skull and skeleton figures, zombies, especially animal sacrifice and blood, or murder, including imagery and paraphernalia, tattoos, costumes or clothing, anything to do with Halloween or horror movies.

Things can be cursed by people too, and some witches of various types and religions and peoples have a propensity for cursing things. For example, many of the Red Indian tribes practised witchcraft and cursed their sacred lands, especially burial grounds. These curses are real and can be deadly.

Places, mountain regions, or lakes, etc. with names including words like ‘hell’, ‘devil’ or ‘death’ have often been found to be dangerous.

The dark side of being tagged and tracked in the American surveillance state is finally being exposed. It’s not only your privacy being stolen when you get ‘Flocked’, just ask Chrisanna Elser.

We are suddenly hearing a lot about Flock cameras and the dangers of America going down the path of becoming a police surveillance state.

This is a topic I’ve been harping on for years, so I’m glad others are joining in the refrain and people are starting to wake up.

The problem is that much of the reporting in the mainstream corporate media focuses on how the cameras are actually a good thing and when someone gets wrongly charged with a crime, oh, that’s just because a single police officer “misused” the technology.

That’s a load of bunk. And the talking point of “police misusing Flock cameras” comes directly from the company itself.

I spent some time today viewing multiple local news reports on a case in the Denver, Colorado, area in which a woman was wrongly charged, and below is the most even-handed report I could find explaining exactly what happened to her. This should be everyone’s nightmare in the new Amerika.

This cop was trying to use Flock cameras and Ring Doorbell cameras to coerce Chrisann Elser into confessing to a crime she didn’t commit.

For all you folks out there who love being spied on by AI cameras, claiming that if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about, you need to wake up. That argument assumes not only honest policing, but competant policing — two things that are not in great supply.

The cop in the above video could have been crooked. But more than likely he was just incompetant. More than likely he honestly thought he was prosecuting a solid case against Chrisanna Elser. I don’t think he was a dirty cop. More than likely, he thought she stole the package off the resident’s porch, but he had misinterpreted the video evidence and conducted sloppy police work, jumping to conclusions that just weren’t there. He was probably inexperienced and overeager, hoping to impress his bosses and eventually get a promotion if he solved enough of these petty theft cases.

The most disturbing lesson from this story, and the hundreds of others like it, is that Chrisanna Elder was deemed guilty until proven innocent. The burden was on her to disprove that she had stolen the package, and lucky for her she had her own video evidence of where she was at the time they say she was perpetrating a crime.

Most people don’t have video to document everything they do in their daily lives. But that’s the type of society we are turning into. If you can’t prove your innocence by providing a video, you must be guilty of what the surveillance state assumes you were doing, or about to do! And they say blanketing cities with AI cameras is a great thing that will keep us safer? It’s not so great when they make a mistake and lock you up for a crime you didn’t commit.

Flock’s AI surveillance cameras are now hiding in more than 6,000 American cities and towns, compliments of your city councils. Do you still feel safe under the watchful eye of this Big Tech monster?

Now is the time for these cameras to start coming down.

Another 22 revelers at venue in Thai capital in critical condition, officials say, after fire that ignited at front of stage spread rapidly and smoke filled the room

An explosive fire at a popular pub in Thailand’s capital Bangkok has killed 27 people, with another 22 injured in critical condition, officials said on Monday, in one of the deadliest such incidents in the tourism hub in recent years.

“We have recovered 27 bodies, others are being sent to hospital,” said Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who visited the site of the fire that broke out at 11:57 pm local time.

Based on survivor accounts, he said the pub in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district rapidly filled with smoke after a fire broke out, forcing many to run to the back of the venue near the bathrooms, but there were no fire escapes.

Another 63 people injured in the incident have been hospitalized, said Suriyachai Rawiwan, director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.

“The number of deaths has stabilized at 27,” he told Reuters.

Of those injured and hospitalized, 22 are in critical condition, Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt told reporters.

There were no initial reports of any Israelis killed or wounded in the fire, though Thailand is a very popular tourist destination for Israeli travelers.

By the time the rescue workers arrived at the scene of the accident, the fire that witnesses said ignited at the front of the venue’s stage had already burned through the area, according to Suriyachai.

“We have to wait for the police to investigate,” he added.

Body-camera footage from an emergency worker seen by Reuters shows firefighters in oxygen masks moving through the darkened remains of the Rong Beer Na Lat Phrao pub with flashlights as they searched for survivors.

Several victims can be seen lying prone on the floor near the pub’s toilets while rescue workers carry in stretchers. The video also shows what appears to be the fire-damaged main room of the venue, with bar tables and stools still visible.

Chadchart said the pub had procured proper permits and had fire exits, but the fire spread rapidly and smoke filled the room, potentially making it hard for patrons to escape.

In the early hours of the morning, emergency personnel remained at the scene as bodies were prepared for transport and forensic teams collected evidence to help identify the victims.

Numbered bodies lay in two rows awaiting removal, surrounded by a large number of rescue workers. Firefighters stood near the pub’s entrance, its facade scorched and blackened by the blaze.

A band member at the venue told local media that smoke suddenly filled the room after the lights briefly went out, followed by a massive explosion and fire.

“After the explosion I didn’t see anybody trying to run, most of them were on the floor asking for help,” he told reporters, his head still bandaged, without giving his name. “I ran towards the door from the stage, about five meters. It was dark and there was smoke, no oxygen.”

A band of white Democratic pastors have a striking message ahead of November’s US midterm elections: Republicans have hijacked Jesus for political gain, and we’re not going to stand for it.

For decades, it’s been a truism that Republicans have cornered the Christian market — at least when it comes to white voters.

But these ministers are so fed up with President Donald Trump, and particularly his policies against immigrants, that they’re running as Democrats in November to rein him in.

“The Christians we’re hearing in Washington don’t reflect the Jesus of the Gospels,” one of the insurgents, Adam Hamilton, told AFP.

As the head of a 24,000-member Methodist megachurch in a deeply conservative, rural area of Kansas, Hamilton would typically fit the profile of a right-wing Republican Christian.

However, along with support for fiscal responsibility and a strong military, the 62-year-old Hamilton backs legal access to abortion and protecting LGBTQ rights in his campaign for the US Senate.

Citing the “crassness and mean-spiritedness” of Trump’s presidency, he said what’s happening in Washington is “inconsistent with the values that I’ve preached for 36 years.”

“I want to stand up and be heard saying: ‘This is not OK.'”

– What insults Jesus? –

Democrats have a long tradition of clergy in politics, but predominately among African Americans.

In Congress now, there’s Senator Raphael Warnock, who leads Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, where Martin Luther King Jr was pastor.

But the last white, Democratic pastor in Congress was Bob Edgar, a Methodist minister representing Pennsylvania from 1975 to 1987.

Now, in these midterms, no fewer than seven white clergy or ministers-in-training representing the Democratic Party are vying for congressional seats.

From Iowa, Texas, Alaska, Arkansas, Kansas and Tennessee, they’re mostly political newcomers. Three of them are women.

But they’re united in aiming to reclaim the Bible from Republicans and using Christian teaching to support more liberal policies on immigrants and the poor.

Perhaps the most prominent is James Talarico, a 37-year-old Presbyterian seminarian running for a Senate seat in Texas.

In a staunchly conservative, Republican-led state, his Scripture-laden speeches have helped him make deep inroads.

“You want to know what insults Jesus? Kicking the sick off health care while cutting the taxes of billionaires,” Talarico said in one speech.

– Religious Democrat? It’s OK –

One reason Republicans have dominated the white Christian electorate is that Democrats have gradually shifted from being identified as the party of the working class to a secular elite where religion can be unfashionable.

Indira Duggirala, co-chair of the Democratic National Committee’s Interfaith Council, acknowledged that there has been a “vacuum in that religious space in Democratic politics.”

The emergence of these faith-oriented candidates — which she said happened organically — “is not an unwelcome change.”

“It’s OK to be a Democrat and be religious,” she told AFP, while emphasizing that government must be secular.

For many Democrats, as well as many Christians, Trump’s MAGA movement and the rise of Christian nationalism have been alarming.

There’s been particular revulsion at the way Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth holds Pentagon prayer meetings and uses stridently religious language to justify the US war against Iran.

“Christian nationalism is one of the biggest threats to democracy in the United States,” said Robb Ryerse, an evangelical pastor who is vying for a congressional seat in Arkansas, another predominantly red state.

But Ryerse, 51, and others in the Democratic Christian pushback say they are ready to right wrongs.

“We need people of faith to stand up and say the United States has a separation of church and state,” Ryerse said, describing one aspect of his mission as helping to “clean up the mess” made by fellow white Christians on the right.

If he wins, Hamilton would be the first Kansas Democrat elected to the US Senate since 1932 — and he says he’s ready to make that history.

“It’s time,” he said. “I think we’re going to do it. There are a lot of people out there who are saying we need change.”

Country music star Kacey Musgraves has once again weighed in with her far-left political views, this time by lashing out at Texas for approving new education guidelines that include Bible-based lessons in elementary schools.

Musgraves shared a Dallas Morning News article on her Instagram account and added the caption, “The bible being forced by people who don’t even follow it themselves. smfh. This is simply indoctrination and it’s not okay.”

The singer has long positioned herself as one of country music’s most vocal liberals, using her platform to champion left-wing causes and attack Republican figures.

Her latest attack on Texas comes after the state approved curriculum materials that include brief references to biblical concepts in early elementary lessons. The content is limited and educational in nature.

In kindergarten materials, teachers discuss the Golden Rule as a way of helping one’s neighbor and explain that the Bible is “a collection of ancient texts” whose parts form “the core books of the Jewish and Christian religions.”

A third-grade lesson on the first Thanksgiving mentions how the governor of Plymouth referenced “several passages from the Christian Bible in the book of Psalms” and notes that the Psalms are songs, poems, and hymns “that are used in both Jewish and Christian worship.”

These are contextual references to history and shared cultural heritage, not theological indoctrination or mandatory religious instruction.

In 2019, following mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton, she took direct aim at then-President Donald Trump during a Lollapalooza performance and on social media. She tweeted, “Don’t you hear us, @realDonaldTrump? Don’t you hear our pain? You have the power to become a hero. Why don’t you take it?” and followed up by saying it was “indescribably mind-numbing” to see Trump “blatantly and murderously ignore doing ONE THING that would not only make people happy but would SAVE PEOPLE’S LIVES,” while pushing for gun control measures.

She later doubled down, framing any support for Trump as harmful.

In the lead-up to the 2020 election, Musgraves went further, declaring that voting for Trump was “an act of violence against” LGBTQ individuals, writing on X, “If you love an LGBTQ+ person and you’re planning on voting for Donald Trump in November, that’s an act of violence against them.”

Musgraves also called Trump a “f-cking tool” in comments about his handling of the coronavirus pandemic that same year.

More recently, in April, Musgraves mocked Trump by sharing an AI-generated image that replaced him in a viral “Jesus-like” photo with Dolly Parton.

Her hit song “Follow Your Arrow” featured woke lyrics like “kiss lots of boys, or kiss lots of girls if that’s what you’re into.”

She has carefully crafted a public persona as a self-described liberal misfit in the traditionally conservative country music world.

Musgraves has upcoming concert dates scheduled in Texas later this year.

A homeless encampment on Manhattan’s West Side has grown to span roughly 12 city blocks, prompting complaints from residents, workers, and tourist officials over alleged crime, including drug activity and prostitution.

According to a report by the New York Post, dozens of tents and makeshift shelters now stretch from 34th Street to 46th Street along 11th Avenue. The sight has caused issues for local workers and residents, as well as tourists visiting the Intrepid museum.

“We can’t get rid of them,” an unidentified city parks enforcement officer told the outlet. “These ones here are stealing everything… They take what they can. And there are escorts in there too. Prostitutes. I see them, they’re right there.”

“Definitely getting worse,” she added. “People stopped parking here. People are scared to park here.”

Nearby workers have said that open drug dealing and prostitution have become commonplace, with one tent reportedly serving as a gathering place for sex work, drug transactions, or both.

“This is crazy,” said one supervisor at the Jacob Javits Center nearby. “The cops and the sanitation guys and the outreach guys, they clean up one spot and after that day, the next day they’re over here. Then they’re over there. They’re kind of just spreading around.”

The supervisor explained that the worst parts are on 36th and 37th, where it is filled with heroin addicts.

Meanwhile, one vagrant there called socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani “awesome” for allowing the encampment to continue and halting police raids. This comes as city records show that 311 calls complaining about the vagrants increased to 48 this year from 40 in 2025.

Cristyne Nicholas, chair of the New York State Tourism Advisory Council, appointed by Governor Kathy Hochul, said the encampment “doesn’t put New York tourism in a positive light” either.

“The Intrepid Museum is one of New York’s greatest tourist attractions, drawing millions of visitors each year,” she said. “Tourists are forced to walk around squalor and stench. I hope the mayor focuses on this, as he’s promoted tourism during the World Cup. He understands tourism.”
