A source with direct #knowledge of the matter said India had steered sustained #consultations to reconcile the competing positions of member states, adding that reaching consensus was especially difficult given ongoing conflicts and rising #tensions in the Gulf.
The declaration urged member states to show #restraint and avoid steps that could further worsen the #MiddleEast crisis, while reaffirming that international disputes should be settled peacefully through dialogue and #diplomacy. It called for a multilateral approach that takes national viewpoints into account.
