Titus 3:2 tells us that we need to show true humility to all men, and we know that this is what God wants us to do. When we are humble, God can work in our hearts, and bring out the best in us. People like to interact with those who are humble and don’t think they are more important than others.
I’m sure you have heard it said, “Humility is one of the greatest virtues.” What does that actually mean though? Why would God want us to be humble? Well, let me explain…
Humble people are really easy to love because they don’t exalt themselves or brag about their accomplishments. They are often very humble because they realize that everything good in their life is from God alone.
Humility goes hand-in-hand with biblical submission to authority or putting others first. If you humble yourself before men then God will lift you up (James:23). So true humility should come naturally as a follower of Christ who submits to the Lordship of Jesus.
According to Romans 12:3, we should not think of ourselves more highly than we ought to. This means that we need to see ourselves like every other human being because we are all important in God’s eyes.
